What to blog about
I know, I know; I sound like a broken record here, but to put it simply you must blog with your ideal client in mind. But this is where you get to have all the fun.
All social media platforms we covered have the overall purpose of entertaining or attracting your dream client. Finally, we have a platform where we get to educate our friends.
First, I want to drive home the point of a blog is much more than just Pinterest. A regularly scheduled blog is a phenomenal tool for your website SEO and a free gift for your audience. So even if you decide not to use Pinterest, blogging is a must.

Now when we are talking blogs, what you write about matters. You want to only blog about topics that are directly related to your products and services. The biggest difference between Pinterest and other social media platforms is that people treat Pinterest as a search engine more than a social platform.
Writing blogs and posting them on Pinterest that explain your products will allow potential consumers to find you, understand your products, and ultimately land on your website.
Word count matters
Before I get into the actual word count, remember the keywords discussion from the last Pinterest post? Well, you guessed it! Keeping the keywords in mind when writing your blog can get tricky, but is an absolute necessity.
When it comes to word count, we must take into consideration the attention span of your audience. In the United States, the average adult reader reads between 200 – 300 words per minute. At the most, regardless of your audience, you have 3-5 minutes of their time before they lose interest.
If your audience is college educated, you have the luxury of writing up to a 1500 word post. This will give you plenty of time to get in all those keywords. However, if your main audience is not college educated, then I recommend keeping the post under 750 words.
Lastly, if you are a highly technical company, try to keep the jargon to a minimum and the word choice very precise.
Repurpose, repurpose and repurpose again.
We will re-iterate this point later, but Pinterest actually rewards you for repurposing your old content. Also, each blog can be multiple Pinterest pins.

Then, each one of these blogs have multiple sub-points. You can use these sub-points to create unique posts that lead you back to the same blog. This blog will actually turn into 4 pins over time.
So if you paid $75 for a copywriter to write you a 750 word blog post you didn’t only get a blog, but a blog, multiple Pinterest pins, and don’t get me started on email campaigns!
