Why a Gallery?
One of the most common mistakes artist, photographers and many creative types make on any social media platform is that they turn their feed into their gallery.
A gallery or portfolio does not speak to your ideal client, it speaks to you. I have said it many times, and I will say it again, having a simple website is the ultimate solution to having and online gallery.
If you are not quite ready to have a website, LinkedIn offers another solution to the online gallery. When setting up your profile, there is a section called “Featured.” This section can act as your gallery within LinkedIn.
If you are not an artist, this section is still a vital section of your profile setup. This section allows you to feature content that you think will help your ideal client learn more about you.
What should I post there?
Only your imagination limits what you put on the LinkedIn gallery and that is its beauty. The gallery allows many different forms of media to be featured in this section of your profile.
If you are an artist that has photos of your work, the answer is simple; post your online portfolio here. Please remember this should not be a substitute for an online portfolio, but a supplement. Otherwise, post images and articles that your followers will enjoy and are directly related to you.
In Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, we are limited on how much information about ourselves that we can give to our audience. However, LinkedIn exceeds in this option on their platform.
In short, you want to keep the featured content simple and attractive to your audience and at the same time, tell them your story.
